Working on a lovely, large refurb in Brighton at the moment. Like the majority of projects, very little consideration and budget had been allocated to lighting. I think this is a mistake on any size of project, but there is so much that can be done with lighting. The client ended up in a situation where he was being asked to make a lot of choices on the fly when, pardon the awful pun, I had a lightbulb moment. (Felt bad writing that!) We were just round the corner from a project where the clients and I had really had a lot of fun with lighting. A quick phone call and then minutes later polite introductions and a guided tour. It was a great showroom for a lot of lighting techniques and my client was able to see a lot of different light sources in use.
I understand that it can be so difficult to envisage what lighting can do, so it was great to be able physically show what can be achieved. I intend to offer more clients this demonstration, why didn’t I think of it years ago?!
