I’ve spent a large proportion of this week putting right an incompetent “electrician’s” work. This in itself is not that unusual, but this was by far the worst I’ve encountered. His work was just an endless catalogue of mistakes, bodges, sheer guesswork and just plain idleness that led to some truly horrendous issues. Not that he cares! He’s switched his phone off and is now ignoring his emails etc. and it’s not like the customer can report him as he’s not a member of a trade body. Put simply he’s a cowboy. It’s generally a poor sign when the individual concerned is getting a lift to jobs off his mum!
Legitimate electricians are easy to spot! They drive vans! They can show you documentation and accreditation! They can take you to show you examples of their work, but easiest of all, they are registered with a Part P body such as NAPIT! They’re VAT registered and insured; they NEVER EVER mind if you want proof of such things either.
Another poor customer paying twice for work. Don’t let it happen to you, there are loads of great tradesepeople out there, I’m one!
